David Guerrero

Chairman/CCO

BBDO Guerrero/Proximity

Philippines

David’s agency has just completed 15 years in existence. It is currently ranked in the global top 50 of the Gunn report. And is the country’s Agency of the Year according to the 4As. This year it has created a local campaign for Pantene that has spread around the world. And worked with charities including Unicef to raise money for the relief efforts for the typhoon that hit central Philippines in November with its #unselfie project (pictured).

He was born in the UK and attended the School of Communication Arts for a brief period after graduating from Sussex. His first placement offer was from John Webster at BMP and he worked in London for four years before heading out to Hong Kong. He stayed there long enough to work on the relaunch of Cathay Pacific airways before an offer from Neil French (then Ogilvy regional boss) brought him home as ECD of that agency’s Manila office.

After three years – winning the country’s first Grand Prix at LIA – he was offered the chance to establish his current agency. They have since won multiple pencils at the One Show for clients like Bayer, FedEx and WWF. His company picked up the first film, press, outdoor and radio Lions for the country. And was also the first to have work accepted at D&AD. Satisfyingly for them they have also won more effectiveness awards for more clients than any other agency in the market.

David has served on many international juries and headed them at AdFest, Cannes, MADC and Spikes. He has been inducted into the local Creative Guild Hall of Fame. And writes regularly for local and international publications. He is currently working on a book – to be launched in June 2014 – which he hopes will be useful to some people, some of the time.
