Alistair King is the founding creative partner of independent agency King James Group. Since it began in Jan 1998, King James has won emerging, small, medium and AdReview SA Agency of the Year 2011. It was also named the Annual’s Agencies’ Agency of the Year 2011/2012/2013. This year, King James was ranked the No 1 agency at both the Loerie Awards and the African Cristals. The company is best known for its work on brands such as Allan Gray, Santam, Sanlam, Johnnie Walker and Bell’s Whisky.

Alistair has always believed in medium-neutral creative thinking and strives to live, breath and influence pop culture, not merely observe or follow it. This philosophy has led him to produce South African music, magazines and literature as a side hobby. He has sat at the forefront of South African creativity for nearly two decades and has been ranked the country’s No1 creative director on numerous occasions. Financial Mail AdFocus named him SA Agency Leader of the Year 2008.

He's a passionate collector of First edition books, Single malt whiskies, Virgin Olive Oils and anything with a fascinating story to it. Tom Robbins and Jasper Maskelyne are his all time heroes. Alistair lives in Cape Town.
