João is a Portuguese creative who loves football and hates sardines. In the beginning of 2014 he moved to New York to join Grey. Before that, João was at Ogilvy Brasil. He is very proud of being part of the team who made Ogilvy Brasil win “Cannes Agency of The Year 2013” by having contributed with 1 Grand Prix and 7 lions.

In 2015 and 2016, João won 21 lions at Cannes for Grey NY. That result was vital to put Grey NY in the 2nd position of Cannes Lions Agency Of The Year, for the last two years.

João will never forget 2016. His work had been recognized before at the One Show but it was the first time he went up on stage. He has a lot of love for his little gold pencils he hangs on his blazer.

He deeply believes that our role in this industry goes beyond selling products, like in the old days. He feels that we have the power of changing people’s lives for better. João is behind “Immortal Fans” and “Gun Shop” two campaigns that had high impact locally and globally, and also highly recognized by our industry.

During his 20 year career, João worked in 4 different countries: Portugal, Spain, Brazil and United States. He has seen his work being recognized by the major International awards festivals including One Show, Cannes Lions, D&AD, Clio, LIA.
