Young Guns

Young Guns is a portfolio competition awarding creative professionals 30 years and under, including designers, illustrators, entrepreneurs, and more!

2008: Continuously evolving, Young Guns 6 saw efforts to make the competition even more exclusive, by limiting the number of potential winners to 50. This also marked the first year of the Young Guns Cube. While this was essentially a smaller version of the acclaimed ADC Cube, it started a process that would soon become a major part of Young Guns tradition. The Cubes were awarded in a ceremony and exhibition on September 4, 2008.

Three Emmy Award nominations, a renown branding agency, and a publication. Behind it, Yo Santosa: creative director, entrepreneur, and dreamer.

Born in Indonesia, raised in Singapore, she emigrated to the U.S. at 17. At 21, Yo graduated from Art Center College of Design and created title sequences for Zack Snyder’s 300 and ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

In 2006, she started her branding agency, Ferroconcrete. Yo believes, ”People don’t fall in love with businesses, they fall in love with personalities”. Her first client Pinkberry, grew from 1 store to a global brand with over 200 stores worldwide.

Currently, she is serving on the Los Angeles Mayor’s Creative Advisory Board for LA Optimized. The initiative explores ways the creative community can impact regional economic recovery for small businesses and opportunities for the city to better support the creative community.

With her iPhone as her best friend and Steve Jobs as her hero, she believes it’s fate they share the same birthday. Inspired by timeless German design, minimalist Japanese style, Dieter Rams, and a good chicken wing, she can be found wandering downtown LA.
