Saturday, December 8th, kicked off the twelfth annual One Club China
student workshop. Started in 2000, One Club China was the first, and
remains to be the largest, workshop to bring high-level international
creatives to mentor students during a week long intensive.
Over 400 students from all over China are attending the workshop this
week. (The furthest coming from a reported 22-hour train ride.) This
group consists of the finalists from the Youth Competition where over
1750 pieces were submitted.
Those entries were pared down to 123 finalists that were voted on by the
panel of international creatives. From there, the Gold, Silver, Bronze
and Merit certificates will be awarded. There were eight briefs to
choose from including Oppo Find5, Kinsoft Battery Doctor, Logitech
“Colors and Patterns” series, WWF for Nature, Kinsoft Liebao Internet
Browser, Oppo Ulike Mobile Phones, Alipay and Head and Shoulders.
Sunday, the students started the next leg of the competition. They are
broken into 80 groups to work on one of two briefs - one for Head and
Shoulders from Saatchi and Saatchi Guangzhou and the other for
360buy.com from Phluency Interactive.( http://www.phluency.com/
the week, the groups will get cut down to 24 which will present on
Friday to the panel of judges.
There will only be nine winners with the Best of Show receiving the
opportunity to attend the 2013 Creative Week in New York. I’ll be
writing in throughout the week with updates. Stay tuned!
