I was watching Mad Men last night and Peggy was interviewing a new copywriter. He made a crazy statement that he interviewed over at Leo Burnett and there isn't really a Leo Burnett! Peggy looked at him like he was an alien and told him that he was wrong, there really is a Leo Burnett. While Leo was intent on staying in Chicago, he did open his first office in NYC in Rockefeller Center, not on Madison Avenue, in 1941!
Which reminded me of Leo's speech "When to take my name off the door". Leo gave the speech on December 1, 1967. It's a great motivational speech to his agency before he retired. It was taped and is easily available. This video was made on the 75th anniversary of the agency by Leo Burnett Iberia.
