The first round of judging took place on February 28 through March 1 in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Thousands of print, TV and integrated entries were scoured over by the likes of Eric Silver from BBDO, Bob Barrie from BDM, Marty Cooke from SS+K and Adriana Cury from McCann Erickson in Brazil. Though the trip was a welcome respite for many, don't let the smiling, sun-tanned faces fool you: this year's jury was, as always, tough and rigorous.

The next crew of judges from the west coast and asia-pacific region are in Hawaii judging through this weekend. All of the excitement will be building up until the week before the show when the final judging takes place and winners are determined. Welcome to One Club News!

This new section of our Web site will fill you in on what we are up to here at The One Club. With a lot of preparation needed for our three upcoming shows, this is a busy time of year for our staff. We'd like to give you an inside peek into the operations of our office and how the back end of the show runs.

With the closing deadline for the One Show and One Show Design, The One Club's New York office has been stocked with incoming entries, and we have seen a lot of promising pieces for the upcoming shows. With everything from a wine container made from a log to a calendar that gives you a daily shock, we've seen it all. The office has been swarming with creative vibes, making the staff anxious to see whose hands the pencils end up in.

Our group of show coordinators have been working to organize all the incoming material. All packages have to be opened and processed in the correct category and prepared to be shipped out to Hawaii and the Dominican Republic for judging. Since the One Show Interactive judging is held in March this year, the remainder of February is still open for entries for that show. Marking the second year the One Show Design is featured as its own show, this year's number of design entries was a record-breaking 2,378 – from last year's 2,089. Plans are being finalized for the award ceremonies and receptions, as well as the 14th Annual Student Exhibition that also takes place during the first week of May.
