Associate Director of User Experience (UX)

The Associate Director of User Experience (UX) is responsible for guiding the work and professional development of the Web Designers and Web Strategists in Palantir's Production team. Responsibilities include: supporting and mentoring designers and strategists in the execution of their project work, developing and maintaining standards for UX as a discipline at Palantir, and helping to drive overall success and innovation of the UX services we provide to our clients.

Primary Responsibilities

Leads the User Experience (UX) team, consisting of designers and strategists

Facilitates professional growth for UX team with on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and feedback for the team

Evaluates, supports and nurtures members of the UX team

Elevates our UX product and services by:

- Providing regular review and feedback for the design team on their work

- Providing regular review and feedback for the strategy team on their work

Is directly involved with project teams to deliver their work by:

- Helping designers and strategists troubleshoot blockers in their work and projects

- Providing design and strategy feedback as needed

- Participating in sprint retrospectives

Empowers the UX team to make their own decisions and assists them by:

- Supporting them in the decision-making process

- Holding them accountable for the decisions they make

- Helping them evaluate success in the delivery of their work

Establishes continuity and consistency in UX work across project teams

Secondary Responsibilities

- Works at the leadership level

- Assists with client communications when needed

- Assists with sales process, proposals, and pitches occasionally


- Reports to the Director of Production Services

- All designers and strategists report to the Associate Director of User Experience

- Works collaboratively with other leadership

- Assists Solution Architects in sales

Minimum Requirements

- Candidates should have extensive work experience in design or content strategy, preferably in both

- Candidates should have experience managing staff

- Candidates without 10+ years of professional experience are unlikely to be considered

- Candidates with Drupal experience and/or coding experience a plus
