We are looking for a brilliant creative and collaborative digital designer to support front-end site design for our new (simplified) website services menu, launching in January, 2018. You should have experience in digital graphic design and a strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite so you can visualize and create responsive web page templates for the new Red Door Salon & Spa menu, building upon and improving Version 1 of our new website that will be launching in October, 2017. The digital designer will provide final assets for imagery, typography, iconography and work closely with our UX Designer and Front End Engineer. Design tasks will involve responsive site design, mobile app design, creation of site and social graphics (images/UI elements/iconography).

This position is a freelance role that will last approximately 3-4 weeks at about 20 hours per week. 3 days a week will be spent in our offices at 663 Fifth Avenue. For consideration, candidates must be able to start by or around October 16, 2017.



Graphically build upon new template design layouts for our website with a strong understanding of adapting for different frameworks, such as mobile

Design high-fidelity website mock ups for internal stakeholders following approved UX designs

Collaborate with in house designers, developers and project managers

Develop clean and technically accurate files, built to multiple specifications

Oversee production aspect of digital design, including image optimization, image slicing, image uploading

Effectively communicate design specifications to developer

Create original content for website, banners, graphics, social media, etc. as needed

Oversee asset management system and file archive


Job Details:

Salary: Fixed project fee, paid as a 1099 contractor

Hours: 20 hours per week

Location: 3 days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays) at 663 Fifth Avenue office with our UX Designer, Front End Engineer and CMO, other hours remote

Project Length: 3-4 weeks projected

Required experience and expertise:

The ideal candidate has 3+ years' experience in designing websites and digital advertising?both graphic design and UI elements

Fluency with core graphic design principles, strong talent of layout, design and typography elements

Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite Adobe Creative Suite (In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator Dreamweaver)

Have a strong understanding of latest web design technology tools and trends, including responsive design

Must have a broad understanding of interface technologies and be able to apply that knowledge to create effective digital designs

Working knowledge of CSS/HTML

Expert experience with image compression, file correction, and optimization techniques

Ability to follow branding guidelines and specs

Able to work independently with minimal instruction

Have an entrepreneurial spirit and can take charge of their work through the end

Highly collaborative attitude

Authorization to work in the United States

Nice to have: experience in beauty, apparel, fashion, retail a plus
