We are looking for a motivated, talented individual interested in a role with significant growth opportunity to join our organization as a Concept Designer at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.Â
The position is tasked with working in a team environment to develop innovative and aesthetically pleasing concept designs supporting the specific brand positioning of our customers. The work you generate will be used to gain new business and support existing business for O-I.Â Â
The position is structured within O-I North America but will also support exciting initiatives being developed in our Packaging Technology Group focused on maintaining O-I's leadership in glass packaging through exploration and implementation of new technologies.Â Â

Interest in creating beautiful and innovative brand-building glass packaging and developing a strong understanding of related technologiesÂ Â
Create quality sketches that clearly illustrate design intent, aesthetic and functional directionÂ Â
Understand customer needs and use that understanding to develop brand-building glass packaging
Build productive relationships across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Mold Design, Forming and Assurance of Quality to facilitate the development of new designs and promote the need for innovative designÂ Â
Develop and maintain an understanding of manufacturing, suppliers and design industries as they relate to glass packaging and related industries in order to ensure all opportunities for innovation and improvements to the concept design process are identified and employed.Â Â
Develop 2D renderings of concepts including branding, closures, and product filled inside
Develop 3D concept CAD data for renderings and prototypes
Explore branding, labeling, and decoration options for the package, packaging components, and secondary packagingÂ
Ability to develop faux branding that can express a unique brand story or set of brand tenets to depict specific attitudes or personalities that enhance the glass structure
Actively participate in project team meetings, brainstorming, design critiques and presentations of your workÂ Â Â
Development and on time delivery of presentations with visual impact and clarity of messageÂ Â
Conceptualize and visualize new packaging technologies and innovations to communicate potential form and functionÂ Â
Maintain records for project documentation and project development history
Maintain an understanding of commercial priorities and strategic direction of O-I by working closely with NPD, Sales, and Marketing.Â Â
Ensure that design and innovation support the strategic and commercial priorities of the business.
Ensure every opportunity for improving glass packaging, improving development performance, customer satisfaction and profit are pursued.Â Â
Maintain awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to safety, discrimination, HR policies, quality, and the environment.Â Â
Coach and mentor Industrial Design Co-ops.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
The position designs innovative and beautiful glass containers within agreed timeframes and to a brief developed in collaboration with Customers, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Production. The position supports the development of Industrial Design as a global function within O-I and promotes it as an innovative, creative and successful design service.Â Â
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design)
CAD Modeling (Pro-E, Alias, Solid Works)

This position reports to Group Leader, Innovation and Product Design
No direct reports. However, the position does require coaching and mentoring of University level Co-op students.
Up to 20% travel is required for this position for training, research and project work
