As a member of the Garden's Alive!Â® Creative Department, the copywriter's primary role is to ensure catalog, direct mail, and web copy are effective as well as consistently and accurately written. This person will be one of several writers working closely with various marketing groups to produce persuasive promotional copy across the corporate family of gardening and gift brands. The ideal candidate will be versatile, self-motivated and creative, with a special interest in gardening or horticulture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Write catalog, web and promotional email copy for the Gardens Alive! Â® family of brands (includes Breck'sÂ®, Spring HillÂ®, GurneysÂ®, Henry FieldsÂ®, Michigan BulbÂ® Â and others).
Attend catalog and web production meetings and participate in the overall creative strategy.
Work closely with brand, creative, website and marketing managers to develop distinct voices under the Gardens Alive! Â® family of brands.
Manage copy-related aspects of assigned-brand style guides and communicate updates to key team members.
Work with Copy Manager to ensure trademarks and copyright information for assigned brands are properly displayed in all media.Â Â
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree in advertising, journalism, communications, marketing or related fields.
At least 3 years professional experience in copywriting preferred.
Direct mail, advertising and/or promotional writing experience preferred.
Proven ability to write creative and persuasive copy with superior attention to detail.
Editing/proofreading skills and experience.
Excellent project-management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects and writing styles simultaneously.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a team environment.Â
Proficiency with the Windows platform, including Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
Gardening knowledge is a plus. Willingness to learn about gardening is a must.
SEO copywriting experience a plus.
