Position Description:

The Graphic Designer, in collaboration with the Senior Designer, is responsible for maintaining the institutional identity of The Washington Center in all of the organization's print, digital, and promotional materials.


Essential Functions






Design new and update existing documents following TWC's visual identity guidelines through Adobe InDesign templates and style sheets, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates.


Design and/or update high-end offset printing projects for TWC such as program guides, brochures, postcards and posters.


Design and order business cards for TWC staff on an ongoing basis and for students every semester


Collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer for the development of the concept, design, and execution of the TWC's annual gala identity and materials (invitation, program, signage, menus, etc.). 


Maintain a high-degree of quality control through self-proofing, proof review and adherence to TWC's visual style guide.


Prepare documents and other files in pre-press setup for professional printers and other related vendors.




Design infographics in Adobe Illustrator for internal and external audiences following TWC's infographic standards.


Design and layout of banners, buttons, icons and content for use in responsive landing page templates


Design banners and gifs for use in responsive email templates


Create basic, short videos and/or motion graphics with Adobe Premier and/or After Effects




Assist in the coordination and art direction of photo shoots and event coverage.



Responsible for managing, ordering and fulfilling TWC's promotional items inventory



Education and Experience an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent in graphic design, marketing or communications

At least 2-3 years' work experience in a related field

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and continuous self-actualization on technology

Ability to conceptualize and execute ideas in visual form

Proficiency of the Adobe Creative Suite

Proficiency in MS Office with strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.  

Experience with video editing software such as After Effects or Adobe Premier

Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus


Equipment Used to Perform the Job which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

Desktop Computer (Mac OS), job-related software and printer

Standard office equipment including a facsimile machine, photocopier, and telephone system
