FactSet Research Systems, a FORTUNE "100 Best Places to Work" for 5 consecutive, and a Forbes "200 Best Small Companies" for 13 consecutive years, is seeking an Interaction Designer to join a growing Application Design team that's dedicated to improving user experiences and product quality.

FactSet's Application Design team defines the visual signature and user interaction standards for FactSet's desktop, web, and mobile applications. Designers collaborate on cross-functional project teams to deliver high-quality products that meet corporate and client needs.

The Interaction Designer will work to improve the overall user experience by integrating user-centered design processes into the software development life cycle, contributing interaction design expertise, and translating requirements into intuitive, consistent, and compelling user experiences

Job Responsibilities

 - Facilitate requirements discovery and problem identification by conducting brain-storming sessions with Product Managers, iterating high-level work-flow concepts, leading user research initiatives, creating user profiles, and defining usability objectives
- Participate on cross-functional project teams to both gather and communicate requirements and contribute interaction design expertise to projects for all FactSet products, including desktop, mobile, and web
- Collaborate with Visual Designers and project teams to iteratively design narrative wireframes, prototypes, and specifications that represent visual display and work-flows
- Gather feedback from project teams and resolve interaction-design-related issues to ensure the design solution meets all requirements: business, user, cost/benefit and risk analyses, deadlines, design, engineering, and QA
- Contribute to the definition and documentation of user interaction design standards for all FactSet applications by applying financial industry knowledge and knowledge of design best practices; promote adherence to standards
- Conduct heuristic evaluations on existing applications to help refine work-flows as well as define global standards


Job Requirements :

- A minimum of 3 years' experience working cross-functionally and drawing on multiple points of view to create effective interaction designs; experience in the financial information industry is a plus
- Experience with all areas of user-centered design ? persona creation, heuristic evaluation, user research methods (contextual inquiry, task analysis, focus groups, formal testing, etc.), user testing methods ? and the ability to apply ucd and information architecture principles to every day practice
- Strong client-focus with the ability to balance all project requirements to arrive at a design solution that best meets all competing needs
- Ability to think strategically, collaborate productively, and problem-solve effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate in meetings and in documentation form
- Expert use of one or more prototyping tools (for example, Visio, PowerPoint, Visual Basic, InDesign); knowledge of Axure a strong plus
- A practical understanding of programming concepts and technologies such as Object Oriented Programming, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, Flash, and Web 2.0; knowledge of WPF / XAML is a plus
- A portfolio of work demonstrating solid interaction design skills
- A philosophy of what drives good user interface design and an understanding of visual design principles
- Experience with developing corporate standards for user interface design
