New York, NY
(August 25, 2005) - For the third consecutive year, the exhibition of the finest work from the 2005 One Show, the advertising industry's most prestigious awards competition, will make the first of its international stops in South Africa. The exhibition opens as part of the Independent Newspaper Group's presentation of this year's Eagle Print Awards.
One Club Marketing Director and native South African Kevin Swanepoel, who has led the One Show Interactive awards since its inception in 1997, will present the exhibition of winning print and television advertisements, as well as selections from One Show Interactive and One Show Design, in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
"Placing the One Show exhibition along with the Eagle Print Award recipients is really a fantastic showcase of the work from the world's best creative advertising," said Swanepoel. "We're looking forward to linking up with the Eagle Print Awards for years to come."
The exhibition opens with a breakfast on Monday, September 5 at 8 a.m. at The Vineyard Hotel in Newlands, where Swanepoel and the two Eagle Print Awards judges will share advertising trends and their reactions to the awarded entries. On Tuesday, September 6, the exhibition will move to The Johannesburg Country Club with another breakfast beginning at 8 a.m.
Each of the three One Show competitions-The One Show for traditional media, One Show Interactive, and One Show Design-recognizes the creative talent that produces superior work in advertising, design and interactive, and are judged by juries of top professionals, making them the industry's most highly esteemed awards.
One Show entrants congregated in New York City on May 11 at two gala award shows in a record-setting year. Contenders were selected from nearly 17,000 entries and 58 countries worldwide; of these, 505 belonged to South Africa. Faring well in the event, South African submissions received 3 Silver Pencils, 2 Bronze Pencils, and 20 Merits in The One Show, and 2 Gold Pencils, 1 Bronze Pencils, and 11 Merits in One Show Design.
