NEW YORK, NY (April 14, 2008)— The One Club, the world's leading authority on excellence in creative advertising, has chosen veteran comedian Tom Papa to be host of the 33rd Annual One Show gala awards ceremony taking place on May 7th at New York City's famed Jazz at Lincoln Center. Clients such as Coke, Nike, HBO, Sony, Monster.com and Proctor & Gamble are contenders for the coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencil award. The gala event will be followed by an after party featuring critically acclaimed artists Bitter:Sweet.

"Tom delivers his observational jokes about the human condition with enviable ease," said Mary Warlick, CEO of The One Club. "At the core of all great advertising is a truth about the human experience so we know Tom's brand of comedy will resonate with this creative audience."

Papa, discovered by Jerry Seinfeld in a New York City comedy club, is a regular correspondent for "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and appears frequently on numerous late-night talk shows. He got his first big break with his own Comedy Central Presents half-hour special, appeared in the film Analyze That opposite Robert DeNiro and was a writer on the animated feature, Bee Movie, starring Seinfeld. Recently Papa partnered with musician Rob Zombie to co-write the upcoming adult animated feature film The Haunted World of El Super Beasto, which follows the adventures of El Super Beasto, a washed-up Mexican masked wrestler voiced by Papa.

This year's One Show contenders include Coke's It's Mine, Nike's Better Than Me, HBO's Voyeur, Sony's Playdoh, Monster.com's Stork and Proctor & Gamble's Tide Talking Stain.

Following the One Show, The One Club will host an after party at the Highline Ballroom featuring a live performance by Quango recording artists Bitter:Sweet known for their harmonious blends of smoky jazz-house meshed with a richly textured fusion of bass, percussion and keys. Bitter:Sweet's debut album The Mating Game was described by The Los Angeles Times as "the best album of its kind since Portishead's Dummy was released more than a decade ago." The group is now poised to release their sophomore album, Drama, in May of 2008.

"In addition to their wonderfully melodic songs, Bitter:Sweet is a perfect choice for the One Show due to the prominence their music enjoys in the advertising community," said Kevin Swanepoel, President of The One Club. "Their song "The Mating Game" has been featured in Korbel commercials for two years while "Dirty Laundry" can be heard in commercials for Victoria's Secret and promo ads for ABC's popular comedy "Samantha Who?". "The Bomb," the first single off Drama is already garnering national attention as the theme song for NBC's popular television comedy, "Lipstick Jungle."

The One Show is one of three annual awards programs that make up the One Show Festival Week to be held May 5-9, 2008. The festival also includes One Show Design and One Show Interactive. This year, the One Show has attracted 23,825 entries from more than 60 countries around the world.
