'Missing' / Personal Project

Submitted By chloe jackson

Description

This is my first animated short and the story is the result of a rather brief and spontaneous chat about milk cartons.

It was also a way for me to develop my understanding of cel animation, directing and storytelling, (all of which are still quite new to me) and to explore my illustration style further.

I wanted to create something surreal, imaginative and a little dark, and to stir the imaginations and emotions of viewers, leaving them with more questions than answers. The aim was to leave a lasting emotional impact on the viewer, whether that was laughter, sadness, or hope.

I purposefully left the ending quite vague to enable me to take this red hatted fellow on more animated adventures in the future, and begin answering some questions.

Objective

The business objective for this piece was to branch into the animation industry and to get some exposure which would lead to more animation work.

Technical Challenge

It was my first time directing a story, so for me this was the challenge. Choosing the right angles within the compositions, editing so that the story was to the point and concise.
