Nov 01, 2010

NEW YORK, NY (November 1, 2010) – For the first time, The One Club, is taking its 'Creative Boot Camp' on the road with initial stop in Atlanta, Georgia, November 11-14. The Creative Boot Camp event is sponsored by Publicis USA in New York; next stop is New York, January 24-27, 2011. The Creative Boot Camp is the brainchild of The One Club, the world's foremost non-profit organization devoted to promoting creative excellence in the advertising industry. The camp debuted last January in New York with the goal of introducing the next generation to the real world of advertising.

Working with students from Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College, the four-day event takes place November 11 -14 at the Leadership Center in the Marketing department on the Morehouse campus. Led by creative directors and designers from across the US, as well as Atlanta's own agencies such as BBDO, Brunner Works and JWT, the workshop introduces students to the art of conceptualizing and building a campaign for a real client from the ground up. The students will also be treated to a private screening of the highly touted film, Art & Copy, November 2, followed by a panel discussion led by creatives from local agencies.

The One Club Creative Boot Camp in Atlanta offers students from multicultural backgrounds a hands-on experience with advertising and shows them the tools necessary to pursue a career in the field. This past January, the program was successfully completed in New York with 60 participating students from the City University of New York school system. The program was created for future advertising and design creatives and is run by creatives currently working in the industry.

"We are very excited to travel to Atlanta this November and to meet the students of the AUC," said Mary Warlick CEO of The One Club. "The goal of The One Club Creative Boot Camp is to inspire the students by introducing them to new opportunities in the world of advertising. What we often find though, is that the students in turn, inspire us with their spirit, energy and passion for creativity."

Publicis USA in New York is a also a proud sponsor of the The One Club ADCOLOR Creative Awards which recognize and honor creative professionals of multi-cultural background for their outstanding achievements in the advertising industry. Rob Feakins, President & Chief Creative Officer, Publicis New York, stated, "We think this is a wonderful opportunity for students to get a real opportunity to work on a real brand.

Based on its primary mission to support the next generation of advertising and design creatives, The One Club's Education Department offers several programs throughout the year including the College Competition, Creative Boot Camp, Annual Student Exhibition and seasonal Portfolio Reviews that connect premier industry creatives with aspiring students and young professionals for invaluable one-on-one critiques.
