The One Club Announces Creative Leaders Retreat

All-Star Roster of Mentors from Agencies and Brands
The One Club, producers of the prestigious One Show Awards, today unveiled the Creative Leaders Retreat (www.creativeleadersretreat.com), the only advertising industry event focused exclusively on top creatives transitioning into leadership positions. The Creative Leaders Retreat will take place on February 21-22 at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.
The Creative Leaders Retreat is a two-day event that will provide attendees with the practical knowledge required to run a creative agency or department. Executive-level creative leaders will serve as mentors, in small groups and one-on-one sessions, to facilitate leadership development. Confirmed mentors include One Club Creative Hall of Fame Member Jim Riswold, Wieden+Kennedy, famous for his work with Nike; Jae Goodman, CAA, who oversees work for Chipotle; Susan Credle, CCO at Leo Burnett; and Brad Jakeman, President of Pepsi’s Global Beverage Group.
“The Creative Leaders Retreat is the only event dedicated entirely to mentoring creatives on the practical aspects of transitioning into executive leadership roles within creative agencies and departments,” said Kevin Swanepoel, President of The One Club. “Since many creatives don’t train specifically for leadership, attendees will benefit greatly from our mentors who have a wealth of leadership experience. Our goal is to shorten the learning curve.”
“My father's generation had more mentoring than mine and mine had much more than today’s,” said Tripp Westbrook, Executive Creative Director of Firehouse and member of the Creative Leaders Retreat Advisory Committee. “Now the knowledge base is fractured, and no one seems to have either the time or inclination to pass along what they know in any sort of actionable way. Today’s creatives are thrown into the deep end, and the Creative Leaders Retreat aims to correct that.”
The Creative Leaders Retreat will feature three different types of sessions:
Agency-Size Sessions – Groups will be based on the size of an attendee’s agency: small, midsize or large. Issues specific to each working environment will be discussed.
Open Sessions – Topics will tackle a number of different issues related to creative leadership. Attendees will be able to attend sessions that most closely align with their needs.
Full-Group Sessions – A chance for all attendees to engage with each other and share knowledge.
The Creative Leaders Retreat Advisory Committee is comprised of Carolyn Hadlock from Young & Laramore, Tripp Westbrook from Firehouse, James Cole, Todd Doyle and Adam Kurzawa from ExpandTheRoom, and David Baldwin from Baldwin&.
