Education Festival to Take Place During Creative Week NYC, May 9th – 14th

(New York, NY April 21, 2011) The One Club, the world’s foremost non-profit organization devoted to elevating creative work in the advertising industry, will host the 2011 One Show Education Festival to recognize and award top student work from around the world. Based on its primary mission to support the next generation of advertising and design creatives, the One Show Education Festival will offer educators and students an interactive opportunity to connect with and learn from industry veterans and award-winning creative directors.

The One Club’s Annual Education Festival will feature the following initiatives:

One Show Student Awards Ceremony

The One Show Student Award ceremony highlights great student work from around the world. Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils and cash scholarships are awarded to the top student work in advertising, design and interactive. The Patrick Kelly Scholarship Award, in partnership with EURO RSCG in New York, will also be awarded to a top student based on the merits of his or her portfolio and application.

The One Club will host the One Show Student Awards Ceremony, Wednesday, May 11th 7:00pm- 9:00pm at The Manhattan Penthouse, 80 5th Ave, New York, NY

The Annual Student Exhibition

Now in its 17th year, The One Club’s Annual Student Exhibition provides select colleges and portfolio schools from around the world the opportunity to showcase their top student’s work. The exhibition has become a source of new talent for top agency recruiters and creatives and is one of the few places to see the best student work in advertising and design all in one place. This year’s exhibition curated by Joyce King Thomas, the chief creative officer at McCann Erickson, New York, will be open to the public.

"Top advertising programs from around the world will be submitting their work for the 2011 One Show Student Exhibition. Participating schools include, Art Center College of Design, SMU Method Creative, Berghs School of Communication, London College of Communications, University of Oregon, 101 The Ad School, Creative Circus, Texas A&M-Commerce, Michigan State University and the University of Colorado to name a few.”

The One Club will host the 17th Annual Student Exhibition, Monday, May 9th – Saturday, May 14th at 82 Mercer Street, New York, NY from 5:00pm -7:00pm. It is free and open to the public.

Young Ones Portfolio Reviews

A unique opportunity for students of advertising to have their portfolios reviewed by top working creative directors, some of whom are One Show Judges.

Young Ones Client Pitch Competition

The Client Pitch Competition offers students a chance to win an award by presenting their College Competition entries live to a panel of judges. While the College Competition is judged solely on creative excellence and the idea, the Client Pitch Competition is judged on the ability to concept and articulate a focused strategy and sell a creative idea to a client. Ten selected finalists will present their work to the client and a panel of top creative directors. The winning team will be announced during the Student Awards Ceremony on the same evening.

The One Club will host the Young Ones Pitch Competition on Wednesday, May 11th 12:00pm- 4:00pm at The Manhattan Penthouse, 80 5th Ave New York, NY During Creative Week NYC, The One Club, the world’s foremost non-profit organization dedicated to elevating creative work in the advertising industry, will host the One Show Festival, which will include the prestigious award programs, The One Show (May 12th), One Show Design (May 9th) and One Show Interactive (May 13th), as well as The One Club’s very popular Creative unConference and Master Class Series.

2011 Student Scholarship Competition Exhibit

The Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators presents the 2011 Student Scholarship Competition featuring the works of over two hundred of today’s top college level illustration students. A jury of professional peers including illustrators and art directors have chosen the most outstanding works created throughout the year. Pieces are accepted based on the quality of technique, concept and skill of medium used. After reviewing 7,002 submissions, only 205 were selected for this year’s exhibition. The Society as well as various other generous private and corporate donors will be awarding over $50,000 in scholarships to the best students featured in the competition. Beginning May 4 through May 28, 2011, the Museum of American Illustration will display the student’s original artwork as well as a full color catalog.
