Mar 17, 2005

NEW YORK (March 17, 2005) - Several hundred talented students from all over the world will find out if they have what it takes to make it in the advertising business when they converge for The One Club's first-ever One Show Education Festival in New York City, May 18-20, 2005.

A select group of top graduating seniors from U.S. and international schools will exhibit their work, get their portfolios critiqued by top creative and design directors, and compete for a college scholarship in an "American Idol"-style client pitch during the three-day event. Capping the Festival will be an awards party, where highly coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze pencils will be given to the best and brightest entries in this year's One Show College Competition.

For more than a decade, The One Club, an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in advertising, has honored winning college entries during The One Show, a prestigious professional awards event held each May in New York City. To mark The One Club's 30th anniversary this year, the organization will hold a separate awards ceremony during The One Show Education Festival that is devoted exclusively to student work.

"With technology increasingly filtering advertising out of our lives, there has never been a more important time to nurture creative talent," noted Mary Warlick, Executive Director of The One Club. "In this landmark year, we are re-dedicating ourselves to fostering this next generation's success."

Kicking off The One Show Education Festival will be The One Club's 11th Annual Student Exhibition, where a select group of U.S. and international schools display the work of top graduating seniors. The event continues with student portfolio reviews, a client pitch competition sponsored by Domino Sugar, and the Festival Awards party on
