"A Conversation with Fans" An ESPN Advertising Retrospective

NEW YORK (October 11, 2005) - Honoring twenty years of innovative and original advertising, The One Club will host an ESPN retrospective, featuring work from Wieden + Kennedy New York, The Concept Farm and Ground Zero. Held in The One Club Gallery, the event will feature interactive displays highlighting award-wining campaigns such as This is SportsCenter, Without Sports, The Season of the Fan as well as famous characters like The Rick. There will be a "Shelfball" corner, a SportCenter desk, team mascots and props from past commercials.

For more than a decade, The One Club, an organization dedicated to promoting excellence in advertising, has honored award-winning campaigns. The exhibition, opening with a VIP reception on October 11th, will also feature notable ESPN print and television advertisements.

"Our mission is to recognize the foremost creative work in advertising," said Mary Warlick, Executive Director of The One Club. "And certainly ESPN has raised the bar for creativity coming from all agencies of record. We're looking forward to a truly unique and interactive event."

A leader in smart and entertaining advertising, ESPN has garnered numerous One Show Gold Pencils, the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau's 2004 Network Achievement Award two years in a row, as well as having earned Adweek's "Best Ad" in 2003 for ESPN SportsCenter's "Stealing Mascots" (Wieden + Kennedy New York) TV commercial and Mediaweek's "Best Campaign" in 2004 for the "Makeshift" (Wieden + Kennedy New York) spot.

Designed by Dan Richards, Creative Director of Portland-based Opolis Design, the exhibition opens with a cocktail reception on October 11th from 6-8:00 p.m. at The One Club Gallery, with a reunion of creative teams and contributors who will share their advertising tales and discuss their work. The One Club for Art & Copy is the nation's foremost organization for the recognition and promotion of excellence in advertising.
