Alex Bogusky
To Be Inducted: 2017
Alex joined Crispin & Porter in 1989 as an art director.
5 years later he was a creative director.
3 years after that he was a partner.
10 years after that he was co-Chairman.
Under Alex, the agency grew to over 1,000 people and had offices in Miami, Boulder, London, Sweden, and Los Angeles. And annual billing topped $1 billion.
In the first decade of this century, no other agency dominated the creative landscape like CP&B.
Their work was constantly surprising, forward thinking and brave. They set the pace for the industry.
They won Cannes Grand Prix's across five categories.
They dominated One Show books, getting more of those little page numbers in the back than most everyone else.
Let's not forget that Alex was Adweek's "Creative Director of the Decade" and also inducted into the ADC Hall of Fame.
Let's also not forget the great campaigns done under his reign: Burger King, Truth, Mini, Domino's, the list goes on.
AND let's not forget that he uprooted his agency and moved them across the country to Boulder, pretty much through the force of his will, and not only kept the culture intact but grew it.
All of this makes him a shoe-in for the HOF. We don't need, but shouldn't forget, to reference his work since leaving Crispin: Rebranding Al Gore's Climate Reality Project, launching COMMON, a creative initiative to rapidly prototype social ventures, and helping to launch MadeMovement, a new marketing agency in Boulder, and Skoop, a new superfoods company.
It's Crispin's work, however, that really makes him an obvious choice for HoF. We were all working in the 00's, and we can't forget how exciting and game-changing CP&B's work was. It was a brief reign, but a dominant one.
Look at any One Show at that time, and CP&B's work is spread out across all categories, usually winning them. To paraphrase David Baldwin one year "Crispin made us all look stupid."
