Now we’re talking about the music, book, podcast, and travel scene. All the things I absolutely love and hope you do too. I’m always looking for new music suggestions (thank you Spotify for my “Discover Weekly”), new books to read, new podcasts to drone out the subway noise, and new places to put on my travel bucket list which is already SO long. Thank you to these twelve 2020 One Show judges who have shared with us their top picks in these categories. Read on– I hope you find some new things to love and obsess over.

"Everything She Wants by Wham!"

Alex Bodman

"Yelapa in Mexico. But if you tell anyone I'll kill you."

Swantje Rummel

"A podcast called “It’s all bad.”"

Eric Silver
Chief Creative Officer, North America, McCann
Branded Entertainment Jury

"Bon Iver always makes me happy. And my favorite guilty pleasure is listening to The Beths, a pop band out of New Zealand. I’m currently reading Edison by Edmund Morris. It’s written backward, starting with Edison’s final days and death. It is fascinating to learn about all the abandoned or failed projects that were explored."

Chuck McBride
CCO/Chief Heart Officer, Cutwater
Film Jury

"Rome. There’s a collision of history with the present that is extremely palpable. I love it. And I need not mention how fantastic the food is."

Mandie Van Der Merwe
Executive Creative Director, M&C Saatchi
Integrated / Experiential and Immersive Jury

"I’m so fortunate to be working on the Tourism Australia account and that has allowed me the opportunity to see a lot of the country recently. It’s really hard to pick just one place that ticks the cool bucket. But if I was forced to answer, I’d say Rottnest Island in Western Australia. Quokka selfies are worth the hype. Quokkas are ADORABLE (yes, all caps). The island itself is stunning. And there are no cars– you ride around on a bicycle. It’s super cool. Side note: Uluru and Great Barrier Reef– also super cool."

Marina Danjo
Creative Director, Dentsu
Design Jury

"Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik."

Bridget Johnson
Executive Creative Director, The Riverbed Agency
Film Jury

"I’m reading/listening to a few things, with varying degrees of commitment. The Milkman by Anna Burns– a bit ponderous; The Mars Room by Rachel Kushner– loving! I have a mild obsession with human behavior, so just finished Edith Eger’s The Choice– astounding!"

Jason Bagley
Executive Creative Director, Wieden+Kennedy
Branded Entertainment Jury

"The Conan O’Brien “Needs a Friend” podcast. I love Conan."

Ami Alush
Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett
Integrated / Experiential and Immersive Jury

""Helado Negro–" the perfect soundtrack for winter and flights."

John Boiler
Creative Co-Chair, Founder, 72andSunny
Film Jury

""Manifest" by Andrew Bird. I dunno why. Super sticky. Great lyrics."

Ted Lim
Chief Creative Officer, Dentsu

"TeamLab Borderless Digital Arts Museum in Tokyo. It’s an amazing immersive experience that makes even the most common-looking people look Instagram worthy."
