Ricca is a Japanese designer’s brand of lingerie fashioned with a delicate sensibility from very soft and light high-grade silk. The brand’s unique products include designs that combine silk produced in Lyon with traditional Kyoto undergarments.Our challenge was to create a poster for an exhibition that visually conveyed the allure of the brand’s products. We looked to handmade washi paper, a traditional Japanese craft, to try to the allure of the brand’s products. We expressed the softness and lightness of silk lingerie with a single sheet of handmade washi paper possessing the same softness and lightness. The Washi Lingerie Poster was successful in visually expressing the products’ softness and lightness in a way that was immediately recognizable at the exhibition. The poster piqued the interest of visitors, prompting them to pick up the actual products and try them on. As a result, all products on sale at the exhibition sold out.
