About the Work

Inspired by Chinese New Year 2021 as the Year of the Ox and the only two letters from the word 'Ox', Game of the Ox is a board game that gives a contemporary take on the classic tic-tac-toe with a twist: the winner is rewarded with fated pearls of wisdom of what to anticipate and focus on this year. The three numbers from their winning row determine the winner's wisdom numbers, which wisdom is on the sheet of "Fate Reads Planned Deeds' Succeed" that comes with the board game. When done playing, the pawns can be used as an incense holder that can be stacked to the heart's content as a touch of home decoration.
