About the Work
When we set out to relaunch Bush’s Beans as That Beautiful Bean Co., we made it our mission to put beans on their proper pedestal to show the world how beautiful and gloriously perfect beans really are. But there was one major cultural (and lyrical) enemy standing in our way: “Beans, beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot.” The most famous song about beans, that every kid on every continent learns at a young age, is only focused on one thing — the fact that, yeah, sometimes they make you a little gassy.
We couldn’t stand by and let this flatulent tune continue to tarnish the bean’s good name. We needed to create a new bean song to correct the musical and historical record, to elucidate all the beautiful qualities of beans, and also scientifically explain the whole farts thing. And we needed to go big. We partnered with Josh Groban — haver of arguably the world's most beautiful voice — to write and record a new song from scratch, basing the premise of the song off a true story from his childhood lunchroom. Josh then starred in a music video directed by Jon Krisel (co-creator of “Portlandia,” “Check it Out with Dr. Steve Brule,” “Baskets”) to properly release the song into the world and set the toot record straight once and for all.
