About the Work
Our 2021 issue featured 19 songs that got us through a pandemic year, along with five essays about the unique state of music and how it changed. Written pieces about each song were paired with original photography by John Edwards and collages from Celina Pereira. Strong color and repeating typography filled the pages of the issue and created an adaptive and responsive design. The array of typographic elements and the textures they formed referenced the way that instruments of different tone, pitch, and vibration can come together to form a song.
