About the Work

For centuries, New Orleans has been a cultural tourism mecca. People travel to this humble town from across the globe to walk its streets, eat its food, and dance to its music. As the pandemic has become more manageable, leisure tourism has returned, but business meetings and conventions – which make up the bulk of the annual tourism spend – have not.

New Orleans & Company (the city’s convention, meeting, and leisure tourism marketer) needed meeting planners to consider New Orleans as business destination when largescale meetings and conventions return. The city needed to stand out from similar competitors like Nashville, Charlston, and Charlotte.

Most meeting planner ads look the same – stock shots of people enjoying dinner, a convention center at sunset, and so on. New Orleans & Company wanted to treat its target audience like an old friend, by reminding them of the hospitality New Orleans has to offer, and the attention to detail they can expect. We altered photographs of iconic New Orleans hospitality elements – like instruments, architecture, and food – to spread our message. New Orleans is Built to Host.
