About the Work

We’re with our hero. We’re seeing through his eyes. There are rules to shooting POV. Most people don’t obey them, but we will. Except when we don’t. When you look with both eyes it’s like a 35mm lens. When you look with one it’s like a 50mm. The best way to judge is to literally lift the camera to your eye, And see which lens recreates your vision most accurately. And of course, perspective is more than just vision. We harness a deeper sense of seeing through a person’s vision. So at the beginning, at the party, we’re seeing a narrower field. It’s claustrophobic, penned in. Then gradually, our field begins to widen out. As our hero starts to refocus, getting back to his full vision. And this will be so subtle, it’s something the viewer just feels on a subconscious level. Also, while we’re seeing everything from the hero’s POV… sometimes we pull the rug out. Sometimes it goes dreamlike, surreal. Dropping 30 stories down a stairwell, then landing on the ground and walking away like nothing happened. We keep the viewer on their toes, questioning what’s real, like any good film experience.
