About the Work
The Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing Ray and Charles Eames’ iconic methodologies to life and equipping everyone with the lessons of Charles and Ray Eames so that anyone can use design to solve problems.
Through the design of a brand identity system, our goal was to find ways to translate the spirit of their approach, all while creating a contemporary and future-facing identity.
The solution is centered around ‘the curious e’, a symbol that embodies infinite curiosity in its dynamic configurations. The kinetic logo has the ability to shift its gaze in order to observe its context, emphasize content, and carry on the Eames' legacy of spirited discovery. The anthropomorphic logo comes to life in animation and in print, always looking, always observing.
A rich color palette is drawn directly from the many graphic materials designed by the Eames’, while a flexible visual system brings life to the dynamic qualities of the organization and its editorial programming. The visual systems we developed have the flexibility to work across more functional settings—such as the digital experience—through to more experiential and tactile contexts, providing a sense of discovery, wonder, materiality, and play.
