About the Work
"The floating clouds drift in the floating world; I fear the lost time be gone for good."
The title of the present exhibition, "The Unbearable Lightness", captures artist - Shum Kwan Yi’s complex emotions of weightlessness and heaviness towards today’s society. They chronicle artist’s experiences, dilemma and inner struggle in bearing this invisible weight of lightness.
The whole design system, through this translucent white block, is constantly expanding, covering the work, and the work is constantly moving upwards, which is regarded as finding a way out in the constantly compressed creative space, until even the author's name and existence are covered. In the main vision, there is a small red line hidden in each of them, which forms a strong contrast with the heavy white square. In the main vision, it stays at the moment when it is about to be touched, and then the red line will continue to advance with time, also like a seepage. blood wound.
