ADC Awards
The ADC Annual Awards is the oldest continuously running industry award show in the world. Now in its incredible 102nd year, these awards celebrate the very best in advertising, digital media, graphic and publication design, packaging and product design, motion, experiential and spatial design, photography, illustration and fashion design all with a focus on artistry and craftsmanship.
About the Work
For the very first time, the work of 42 artists from the Illustration Division roster has converged in a single animated film. These Days is a three-and-a-half minute visual love letter to our collective dystopia that celebrates our agency’s incredible talent: digital painters, watercolorists, vector artists, collagists, fashion illustrators, experts of both the figurative and abstract – amazing illustrators with a variety of specialties, based in 21 cities around the globe. Bringing together their work required the brilliant vision of Carlos Aponte, whose storyboard served as the connective tissue between each illustrator's image. Next, animators Pablo Diaz and David Rocha took the helm, making these lovely, previously static images move, and showcasing their ability to vivify nearly four dozen disparate aesthetics with logical, narrative intention. The duo brought their sense of sophisticated play to each clip, allowing every illustrator's style to move in its native visual language. The animation is set to a stirring original composition by musician Bernardo Pérez, who created the work in response to playwright Elinor T Vanderburg's optimistic and musing script. Illustration Division's founder, Stephanie Pesakoff, fittingly delivers the piece's compassionate narration, championing the magic that lies just beyond the encounter with art.
