About the Work

An ink painting artist OHGUSHI spent 6 years creating the 10-meter long fusuma* painting "Unryu-zu*," featuring the god of water "Hachidai-Ryuo-Son” at "Saijo Inari-san Myokyoji Temple”.
While maintaining the ink painting techniques, he expressed the god of water as “pure water” itself, resulting in an innovative and dynamic work of art that goes beyond the traditional Japanese conception of beauty.
The clouds on the right represent the current difficult social situation (under COVID-19 and global conflicts), while the blank space on the left shows the artist’s wish for a bright future.
The fusuma painting will be displayed for the public once every year and will be passed down through centuries and centuries to come.
