Season 3 of For All Mankind transports fans to Mars and to an alternate, aspirational version of the 1990s. We knew fans would wonder whether the biggest events of the season could really happen. So we created a companion series to illuminate the real science fueling the show’s imaginative vision. The result is “The Science Behind For All Mankind,” a four-part series that stars the show’s own Wrenn Schmidt (Margo Madison) and arcs narratively with the season. Segments are uniquely timed with significant show moments and unlocked for fans after completing specific episodes. Each segment pulls back the curtain on how the show’s creators (and their technical advisor, a former NASA astronaut) turned cutting-edge innovation into a great story — and just how far we might be from that reality. Using a blend of live action and CG, the visual storytelling marries the feel of the show’s 90s setting with the spirit of Apple innovation. Each segment devises experiments that harness familiar elements in inventive and playful ways — demystifying complex topics, transforming them into compelling entertainment, and sparking the fan’s own curiosity about these game-changing possibilities for all mankind.
