About the Work

How do you get the US government to fully fund period care? We invented Loopholes, a fictional cereal brand that is a “loophole” by providing period products as the prize inside every box. Why cereal? Because food is SNAP-eligible and cereal is the most purchased good with SNAP benefits. By combining tampons with something currently supported by federal programs, period care would ~technically~ become federally funded. We created a real, physical period-product-filled box to grab attention and drive action. Some notable box features: - A bold, bright, eye-catching design - Important information about period poverty - A QR code that links to our microsite where you can easily email your congressional representatives - A detachable postcard to mail to your representatives Then, we created a cereal commercial complete with a catchy jingle and dancing pad and tampon mascots, sent physical boxes to influential people, and created an Instagram account with ongoing educational content.
