Since its establishment in 2005, the Asia-Pacific Design (APD) has been adhering to the mission of “becoming an excellent design document in the Asia-Pacific region.” APD searches for works with contemporary significance through a professional and multi-dimensional perspective, and records the development of graphic design in the Asia-Pacific region. For APD18 in 2022, the designer has made a brand-new revision. For a design yearbook that has gone through 18 years, a change also means a new life. The main tone of the book is blue, as if a fresh sea breeze from the Pacific Ocean blows towards the face. The existing color of paper is used to replace the base color of printing, and the blue tone becomes the visual memory of APD18. The design takes “fishing” as the concept, and compares the entries and competition interestingly to fishing in the sea with a net. The three letters “apd” are transformed into the form of “net” and woven on the cover through the process of embroidery thread to visualize the broad concept. The size of the book has been changed from the original 8k-sized papers to 16k-sized papers. Although the size has become smaller, the presentation of design works has not been compressed. Before the revision, a work was presented with 8k-sized papers, but after the revision, 16k-sized papers were used. And the thickness of the book also increased. In consideration of reading experience, the size has become smaller, but the weight remains the same.
