About the Work
The typeface 'Fenul' was born with inspiration from an old anatomy book, which particularly aroused interest in the chapters on bones and bones. This is a self-initiated project, started with one weight and one style, which later in the process received support and help to build a font with two axes: thickness and width by a type foundry — and coming in italic by 2023.
Based on skeletons and bones, this typeface derives shapes and ideas from anatomy: the thick end pieces, against the thin center points. In this sense, it is almost impossible to define where the serifs end and the stem occurs. With its unusual proportions and contrasts, the writing touches on the hinged joints one might imagine seeing in a walking skeleton. The typeface’s ideas are obscure, but can be placed in many situations which give it a varied appearance.
