Julia Hasting is a German graphic designer based in Zurich with an international reputation for highly engaging, conceptually refined and uniquely crafted book designs. For nearly two decades, she has been Creative Director of the international publishing house Phaidon where her book design approach has become the main product strategy and has set a new industry standard. Her works have earned numerous international design awards. She taught publication design at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York and is a frequent attender of international design juries and conferences. In 2000 she became an elected member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

Hasting was born in Bremen, Germany, and studied graphic design at Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe, Germany, graduating with distinction. Before moving to Zurich in 2008 her base was first in London and then in New York for eight years. Her work encompasses book designs, corporate identities, posters and illustrations for many cultural clients including Phaidon, The New York Times, ZKM – Center for Art and Media Technology, FSB door handles, The European Film Institute and Cahiers du Cinéma.
