Gail Anderson is a New York-based designer, writer, and educator. She serves as creative director at Visual Arts Press at the School of Visual Arts, where she has taught for over 25 years. Anderson is also a partner at Anderson Newton Design.

Anderson is the recipient of the 2018 Design Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian, and she received the AIGA Medal in 2008. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, Poster House, and the Milton Glaser Design Archives. Anderson has co-authored (with design historian Steven Heller) 15 books on design and popular culture, and she serves on the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee for the United States Postal Service.
