Hringur Hafsteinsson was born and bred in Iceland and studied sociology at FG before attending The New School for Social Research in New York in 1983 where he finished a degree in Film Studies. His early career was in film editing (Feature films and Television) but in 1994 he changed his focus to interactive media and co-founded Gagarin. The company is leading in its field of making highly interactive exhibits for museums, corporations and institutions.
As the Creative Director of Gagarin, Hringur has taken a lead role in many awarded interactive exhibitions and fairs both in Iceland and abroad. Among other he has also served as a member of the board of judges at Latvian Design Award, and in competitions in Iceland. He is currently a board member of the Associates of the Museum of Design and Applied Art in Iceland.
