ADC Awards

The ADC Annual Awards is the oldest continuously running industry award show in the world. Now in its incredible 102nd year, these awards celebrate the very best in advertising, digital media, graphic and publication design, packaging and product design, motion, experiential and spatial design, photography, illustration and fashion design all with a focus on artistry and craftsmanship.

Sy-J is an Oxford-born Brit of Hakka-Cantonese Chinese descent, and a newly naturalized U.S. citizen. With a background in design, Sy-J fell into advertising by accident through Wieden+Kennedy, working as an art director on Nike in Amsterdam, London and Shanghai. She’s a creative hybrid, a designer and an art director forged in the furnaces of multidisciplinary brand design, editorial and advertising shops. In addition to Nike, she has worked on brands for clients including AB InBev, Condé Nast, Target, Google, GAP, EMI Records, Infiniti, Design Museum (London), and Swarovski, among others. Her work has been recognized by One Show, Art Directors Club, Design Week, Graphis Design, ANDYs, Clios, Cannes Lions and D&AD.

With a love of art direction, design and strategy, Sy-J strives to put concept and beautiful craft expression at the core of both design and campaign work.

While WFH, Sy-J intensified her addiction to plants, with 68 at last count. And found her WFH favorite “H” words to be “Hungry” and “Hierarchy,” using them at least 6–8 times a day, surpassing an old favorite, “Helvetica.” Blasphemy.
