Belen Marquez

Creative X, Facebook
Global Creative Director

Raised in the South of Spain, Belén Márquez is a Creative Director and living proof that not all Spaniards know how to dance flamenco. She was never the one to follow the conventional path, and her experience shows that. She has worked across the globe and in cities like New York, London, Prague, and San Francisco? finding ways to take on social issues with brave, bold, and imaginative solutions.

In her career, Belen had the opportunity to work on awesome and fulfilling projects, but the one she is most proud of is The Refugee Nation, where she and her team created a flag and an anthem to represent and support more than 65 million displaced people around the world. Working on this project made her realize the responsibility creatives have, not just to solve business problems but also to use their skills and creativity to give voice to the voiceless, help people share their stories, and ultimately shine a light on global issues to drive social change.

Belén's work has garnered recognition and global press and featured in various renowned museums worldwide, like MoMA in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She has also won some of the most prestigious awards, such Cannes Lions, One Show, D&AD, Webby's, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, and even received the Advertising Week Future is Female award. In 2020 she was recognized with the coveted Next Creative Leaders Award for North America, which further showed her creative leadership in the global advertising industry.

Today, you can find her creating and leading global work at WhatsApp and Messenger at Creative X, the internal agency from Facebook, and teaching classes at the Miami Ad School, prepping her students to become future rising star creatives.
