My Role in This Project
With Dot GO, I had my first deep experience in my passion for UX. Aside from copywriting, I had the opportunity to use UX research and design applied to accessibility needs. At the time I was also upskilling in Content Design which meant that I could directly apply my learnings into our prototyping. I believe especially for this project, it was crucial to keep an open mind and truly listen to each user’s needs. A highlight in the project was collaborating on a funding pitch with Wheel the World, an organization that provides accessible travel experiences.


Project Description
Until now, camera-based assistance for the visually impaired has relied heavily on proprietary data sets — a limited, costly, and fragmented solution for users.

Dot Go pioneers a new category of accessible, adaptable, and hands-free assistive apps. It uses LiDAR together with open source object recognition models to help people detect any object in their surroundings, and choose freely how to interact with these objects – from taking a picture to making a purchase.
