My Role in This Project
Meltdown Flags was my first project on the innovation team at Serviceplan – it was very hands-on, and involved taking up many roles at once. This project made me realize what capacities I had for coordinating partnerships between organizations, leaders, and grassroots groups around the world. I interviewed and co-created glacier educational content with glaciologist Dr. Heïdi Sevestre and Protect Our Winters, and built allyships with Fridays for Future in Argentina and glacier protection NGO Glaciares Chilenos. Our flags were called symbols for protection and were requested to be shown in museums and glacier education centers.

My greatest takeaway: Strong networks do not need infinite resources, they need people who step up and communicate.


Project Description
Meltdown Flags is a climate data initiative that visualizes glacier retreat by reducing the amount of white in the flags of their home countries. From 1995, the year of the first UN Climate Change Conference, until 2050, the year set within the Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.
