Description
“86” has been the symbol of “Drift”, the Japanese-born car guy tradition, and have consistently focused on the "fun to operate in the hands" of FR drive (front engine rear wheel drive).
When autonomous vehicle and electrification become the common or even in the further ahead, we do not want to take away this fun from the car guys. We have expression these thoughts into the film.
With the “86”, which has been loved by driving enthusiasts around the world, we took on the challenge of using filming techniques that were not possible in the past, to express the new FR sports cars that appear in this era.
The theme is “Drift meets Drone.”
The shoot was a competition that pursued the centimeter unit and the split-second timing with the human skills of "maneuvering" and "maneuvering."
Drone team from around the world had joined this project to support the world’s first difficult drone shoot.
The drone captures the moment when the professional driver aligns all three cars at high speed, and the drone takes a close-up shot of the intensity at the last minute, and the drone dives into the drifting driver's seat in one shot.
To make the intensity look as realistic as possible, we actually filmed everything instead of using CG. In order to accomplish this project, the professional drivers and the drone pilot challenged the shoot after three months of preparation, and it required countless takes even in the actual shoot.
It was also a battle with the changes in physical conditions such as the weather, wind, and humidity.
"In this era, I want FR car rubber to rediscover the coolness of FR." A film born from a conversation with Mr. Morizo (President Akio Toyoda's racing name) united the hearts of car guys across the borders.
