Description

Laban Movement Notation (LMN) is known for a vertical reading system which was applied to the Zine. In order to highlight “Laban’s four Continuums” (space, time, flow, weight), I used type deconstruction as a strategy to emphasize the focus of the information provided to the reader. I chose Gill Sans (a typeface released in the same year LMN emerged) in order to provide a time frame for LMN.
To translate the Movement’s feature, the cover has different widths to empower its flow. Using a green thread as a call to action, the binding stimulated the reader to construct its own choreography, changing the order of the pages.
The naming Choreographie, underlines the force of written movement. An exercise of synthesis, meaning and abstraction, in an attempt to make the “thinking visible”.
