Description

The Tangut script of northwestern China was extinct after the 11th century. It borrowed the format of Chinese characters while retaining its formal distinctiveness. Since the 20th century, the study of the discipline of Tangutology has continued worldwide, and Tangut fonts are required by scholars. AraTangut is a custom font designed for the paper of Japanese Tangutologist Shintaro Arakawa. It is based on the Mincho style, Which is the most common style in Japanese typesetting, while adding Tangut features to the shape of in-strokes. It creates a unique and ethnic flavour between Mincho and Tangut calligraphy. AraTangut works harmoniously and excellently with Kanji and Kana in Japanese typesetting environments. It arranges a variety of diagonal strokes evenly, contributing to a balanced white space and improving the reading experience. AraTangut helps to give new energy to language studies in Japan and encourages the production of typefaces for other scripts.
