Description

This Devanagari display typeface is an extension of a lettering piece we designed for the title of the book– Drukchintan (दृक्‌चिंतन). A compilation of contemplative and critical essays on works of 31 modern artists from India and across the world, Drukchintan is authored by contemporary painter and art teacher Prabhakar Kolte. True to the spirit of Modern art, this typeface breaks away from tradition and experiments with the visual form of the Devanagari script. Robust shapes interspersed with delicate outlines give the typeface it’s unusual texture. While the solid rectangles and circles of the Dandas (दंड) and Bindus (बिंदू) dominate the visual space, the thin lines define character shapes; a fine balance of abstraction and legibility. Fresh and unconventional, this typeface can be used boldly in posters, publications and branding.
