The TDC competition, established in 1953, is the longest running, most prestigious, global typography and type design competition. Description
Arc-Com engaged design studio and font foundry House Industries to create THE GLYPH COLLECTION: a modern offering that celebrates the beauty of typographic forms in six jacquard-woven and velvet textiles.
The patterns include:
(1) Parentheses
(2) i Pattern
(3) Pound pattern
(4) X Pattern
(5) Tilde pattern
After House designed the patterns, they were inspired to turn the individual ‘glyphs’ into sculpted furniture upholstered with these new textiles. The final pieces were exhibited along with the new collection inside Arc-Com’s showroom at Neo-Con.
The creation of letters and numbers for House has always wandered somewhere between fine art and function. The alphabet as a muse to create patterns that morph glyphs into something that transcends an isolated character is what inspired The Glyph Collection.
