About the Work
America’s increasingly polarized political climate put the very nature of
our Democracy at risk. In the weeks leading up to the 2020 election,
RepresentUS—a bi-partisan organization fighting political corruption—
needed to convince Americans on both sides of the aisle to take
democratic participation seriously. Recognizing that a common enemy
unifies, we created two deepfakes featuring the nation’s most notorious
‘bad actors’—Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un—to thank the American
people for destabilizing the country by refusing to vote. When pulled
from networks at the last minute, we doubled down in organic social.
The message went viral.
